He completed his medical studies at the University of Szeged, Faculty of Medicine. He obtained a specialization in internal medicine and gastroenterology. From an early stage, he was interested in gastroenterological endoscopic diagnostics and therapeutic interventions. He has expertise not only in the most commonly performed gastroscopies and colonoscopies but also in specialized techniques such as the examination of the bile and pancreatic duct systems known as ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiography) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). He has taken licensure exams in both of these endoscopic methods and is also an instructor and licensure examiner in these techniques. He wrote his PhD thesis on a related topic. He began his medical career in Békéscsaba and then moved to Kecskemét, where he worked in the pioneering workshop of Dr. Borbála Velősy and later Dr. Attila Szepes. Following Dr. Szepes's unexpected death, he led the department for six years. He also gained experience abroad, serving in locum consultant positions at various hospitals in the United Kingdom for nearly ten years.
He began his teaching activities early, during his university years in anatomy, and subsequently participated predominantly in endoscopic education both domestically and internationally. He has been a tutor at numerous events organized by the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE). He is a board member of the Hungarian Gastroenterological Society, including being a member of the board of the Endoscopic Ultrasound Section, as well as the largest section, the Endoscopy Section.
As recognition for his outstanding professional work, he received a Certificate of Recognition from the Ministry of Human Resources in 2018. His scientific work has been awarded the Markusovszky Prize three times by the Medical Weekly. Patients who turn to him have frequently nominated him for the audience award of the Szent-Györgyi Albert Medical Award as a sign of their appreciation.
His main areas of interest include the quality execution of endoscopic examinations, improving quality, enhancing patient satisfaction, colonoscopic screening for colorectal cancer, bile and pancreatic diseases, reflux disease, and inflammatory bowel disease.
