Endoscopy – A Key Minimally Invasive Procedure in 21st-Century Medicine
Endoscopy is one of the most important minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in modern medicine. It allows direct, real-time examination of the body’s internal cavities and organs such as the stomach, intestines, airways, or even joints and enables immediate intervention when necessary.
What is Endoscopy?
During an endoscopy, a thin, flexible tube called an endoscope, equipped with a camera and light source at its tip, is inserted through the body’s natural openings. The real-time images allow the physician to accurately assess organ condition, detect abnormalities, collect tissue samples, or perform therapeutic procedures such as polyp removal, bleeding control, or foreign body extraction.
Who Is Endoscopy Recommended For?
Gastrointestinal complaints (pain, bleeding, weight loss, changes in stool)
Screening examinations for the prevention of colon or stomach cancer
Monitoring and follow-up of known abnormalities
When therapeutic intervention is necessary
Endoscopic ultrasound
We are the first in private healthcare to perform endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) examinations. EUS is a medical procedure that combines endoscopy (a camera tube) and ultrasound, allowing for highly detailed, internal imaging of the walls and tissues of the digestive system (esophagus, stomach, intestines) and surrounding organs (pancreas, bile ducts), helping to diagnose tumors, inflammation and other lesions, as well as for targeted sampling.
